Driver found asleep in traffic lane arrested on gun charge in Hanover
Hanover, MD – A Severn man was arrested after being found asleep behind the wheel in a traffic lane, leading officers to discover a loaded ghost gun beneath his seat, authorities said.
On November 27 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Western District officers responded to the intersection of Annapolis Road and Ridge Road for a report of a vehicle stopped in traffic with the driver unresponsive. Officers observed signs of alcohol impairment and detained the driver.
During the search, police recovered a loaded, unserialized 9mm Polymer 80 handgun — commonly referred to as a “ghost gun” — concealed beneath the driver’s seat.
The driver was identified as Rudy Angel Orellana Garay, 32, of Severn. He was arrested and charged with weapon violations and DUI-related offenses.
