Severna Park Man Wins $50K Powerball Prize During Work Call

SEVERNA PARK, Md. – A routine work call turned into an exciting moment for a Severna Park resident who discovered he had won $50,000 on Powerball.

After purchasing two Powerball tickets at the Pasadena 7-Eleven on Ritchie Highway in Anne Arundel County, the man had forgotten about them. A week later, during a work call, he remembered to check the tickets and discovered his $50,000 third-tier win. Despite his excitement, he managed to remain composed during the call.

The winning ticket matched five of the numbers from the Saturday, Oct. 5 drawing: 2, 12, 46, 52, and 65, with the Powerball number being 3. The only number off was 65 instead of 50.

An avid fisherman, the man plans to purchase a new fishing rod and use the remaining winnings for home improvement projects.

The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, with an estimated jackpot of $437 million and a cash option of $210.3 million.
