Shell station sale leads to $50K surprise in Baltimore

Baltimore woman wins $50K in Holiday Raffle after lucky birthday streak

BALTIMORE, MD – A Baltimore woman who recently celebrated her birthday and a Pick 3 win added another highlight to her December after claiming a $50,000 prize in the Maryland Lottery’s Holiday Raffle.

The winner, who used the alias “Birthday Queen” when claiming her prize, purchased the $20 Holiday Raffle ticket back on November 11 at Moravia Shell Gas Station on Moravia Road. She didn’t realize she had won until she returned to the store and saw a sign indicating a winning ticket had been sold there.

After checking her ticket at home, she confirmed that her raffle number, 029641, matched the second Early Bird drawing held on December 8. The $50,000 win came just days after she won on the December 17 Pick 3 midday drawing with the numbers 8-8-8 and celebrated her birthday earlier in the month.

The woman plans to use the winnings for home improvement projects. Her ticket remains eligible for the $1 million grand prize drawing on January 2. However, she is not eligible for the final $50,000 Early Bird drawing scheduled for December 22.

Holiday Raffle tickets went on sale November 3, with a cap of 325,000 tickets. Each ticket costs $20 and is sold sequentially. The final drawing on January 2 will award one $1 million prize, ten $100,000 prizes, and 10,000 additional prizes ranging from $50 to $500.

Tickets will be sold through January 1 or until all 325,000 are purchased. All tickets, regardless of purchase date, are eligible for the final drawing.
