Baltimore man charged with attempted murder in October East North Avenue shooting

Baltimore, MD – A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with an October shooting that left a 31-year-old man injured in the city’s Eastern District, according to Baltimore Police.

Richard Holland Jr. of Baltimore was taken into custody without incident on November 30 in the area of East North Avenue and Maryland Avenue. He was transported to Central Booking and formally charged following weeks of investigation.

The shooting occurred on October 27 around 2:05 a.m., when Eastern District patrol officers were called to an area hospital for a walk-in gunshot victim. The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was later reported in stable condition.

Further investigation revealed the shooting took place in the unit block of East North Avenue. Detectives identified Holland as the suspect during the course of the investigation.

No additional details about a possible motive or the events leading up to the shooting have been released. Holland remains in custody pending court proceedings.
