Shoplifting suspect cited after theft at Cumberland business
Cumberland, MD – A routine shoplifting call to a Virginia Avenue business led officers to a suspect still nearby, closing out a theft case within minutes of the report.
Cumberland Police said an officer responded around 8:37 a.m. Thursday to a business in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue for a reported shoplifting. Store staff told police the suspect had taken merchandise and left the store.
Officers located the suspect, identified as Brenden Andrew Strietback, 32, of Keyser, West Virginia, still in the area. After speaking with employees and conducting an investigation, police issued Strietback a criminal citation.
Strietback was released pending trial and charged with theft under $100, according to police.
