CRAWFORDSVILLE, FL – On December 3, 2021, Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) at the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the North Star Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force (NSMDTF) and K9 Officers of the Florida Department of Corrections (DOC), executed a search warrant at 152 Hollywood Way, Crawfordville, Florida, pursuant to “Operation Freeze-Plug.” As a result of the search warrant execution, Christopher Dennis Kelly, 40 years of age, was arrested for Trafficking in Methamphetamine and other drug charges.
Operation Freeze-Plug targeted drug dealers from whom covert purchases of methamphetamine and other drugs were made in Wakulla County during the latter part of 2021 by Detectives of the CID, but did not include those cases which are being prosecuted federally. Operation Freeze-Plug is a multi-faceted operation with more details to follow in a future post.
On December 3, 2021, CID Detectives, NSMDTF, and DOC traveled to 152 Hollywood Way in an attempt to locate and arrest Christopher Kelly by authority of two arrest warrants for Possession and Sale of Methamphetamine. Upon arrival, Detectives noted Christopher Kelly was located inside of a shed with an open front door. Christopher Kelly was observed exiting the rear of the shed which had been converted to living quarters with a bed.
While taking Christopher Kelly into custody, Detectives observed a clear plastic baggie with a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine, along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia commonly utilized to smoke methamphetamine in the shed. Detectives secured Christopher Kelly, established a perimeter, and remained while Detectives obtained a search warrant to search the shed.
During the execution of the search warrant, located on the table next to the bed, was a baggie containing a crystalline substance which tested positive for methamphetamine via a presumptive field test, seven round white pills identified as sublingual (Schedule III controlled substance), 12 yellow oval pills identified as zolpidem tartrate (Schedule IV controlled substance), and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Located on a small refrigerator under the table was a metal pan with four lines of crystal methamphetamine as if to be snorted. Located on the bed, inside of a black container was a large amount of crystal methamphetamine. A presumptive field test rendered positive results for methamphetamine. Multiple baggies and a set of digital scales were located in the box along with the crystal methamphetamine.
