SnapChat: Snapping turtle removed from outside Promenade store in Evesham

EVESHAM TWP., NJ — A snapping turtle caused a brief stir Tuesday morning when it was found in front of the Sunglass Hut at the Promenade shopping center, according to Evesham Township Police.

The reptile was spotted lounging near the store entrance, prompting a response from Officer Corey Davis.

Using caution due to the turtle’s powerful jaws, Davis safely relocated the animal to a more appropriate environment, police said.

The department shared the unusual encounter on social media, noting the officer handled the situation without incident.

“Officer Corey Davis responded to an unusual situation at the Promenade, a snapping turtle was spotted lounging in front of the Sunglass Hut,” the department said in a post.

No injuries or property damage were reported, and the turtle appeared unharmed during the relocation.

Police say the turtle encounter was just another example of the varied calls they handle across the township.
