Man charged with murder in fatal stabbing of 63-year-old on West Garrett Street

BALTIMORE, MD — A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the fatal stabbing of a 63-year-old victim earlier this month in Baltimore’s Southern District, police announced Thursday.

Elijah Jackson was taken into custody on October 22 during a routine patrol by Southern District Action Team officers in the 700 block of Freeman Street. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first-degree murder.

Jackson is accused of killing Terry Copes, 63, who was found stabbed to death on October 7 in the 100 block of West Garrett Street. Detectives have not disclosed a motive or the nature of the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victim.
