State Troopers pull suicidal 18-year-old from bridge overpass

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ – New Jersey State Troopers acted fast to pull an 18-year-old woman who was considering jumping from a highway overpass in Mount Laurel last month.

On Tuedsay, the NJSP released the trooper’s body camera footage of the incident.

Troop “C” Bordentown Station troopers recently rescued a suicidal woman who was attempting to jump from an overpass in Mount Laurel, Burlington County.

Troopers Michael Basti and Stephen McDonald were called to the State Highway 38 overpass on Interstate 295 on November 29 because there was someone on the ledge. Troopers found an 18-year-old woman in emotional distress when they arrived.

As troopers talked to the woman, they found out she was distraught and contemplating jumping. In order to save the woman’s life, they had to act. Quickly, they grabbed the woman and pulled her away.

Mount Laurel EMS arrived on the scene and transported the woman to a hospital.
