Stolen car bust on Rowan Boulevard ends in arrests of three teens and charges for their parents
Glassboro, NJ – A late-night stolen vehicle case escalated into a foot pursuit and multiple arrests Friday after police tracked down a car swiped from Willingboro to a parking area behind Rowan Boulevard.
Just before midnight, officers were alerted to the presence of a stolen car in the busy Rowan Boulevard corridor. One officer spotted the vehicle freshly parked behind a building and saw three teenage males exit the car. Additional officers already assigned to patrol the area for enhanced security were quickly dispatched.
When approached, the trio fled on foot, prompting a chase through the area. Two of the teens were caught immediately. The third attempted to evade capture by hiding but was found walking nearby shortly afterward and taken into custody without incident.
All three suspects—identified only as J.D., D.W., and D.S., all 16 years old and from Willingboro—were arrested and charged in connection with the stolen vehicle. J.D. and D.W. face multiple charges including obstruction, resisting arrest by flight, disorderly conduct, and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. D.S. was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
Following the arrests, each juvenile was released into the custody of a parent or guardian. But the incident didn’t end there.
Under Glassboro’s municipal ordinance on “Minors and Parent Responsibility,” the parents or guardians of the three juveniles were also charged for failing to properly supervise the minors, adding a civil component to the case.
The vehicle had been reported stolen from Willingboro just one day earlier.
No injuries were reported during the incident. All charges are pending further legal proceedings, and all individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
