SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – The Suffolk County Police Academy celebrated the graduation of its 188th recruit class.

Among the 68 SCPD graduates, 36 have prior law enforcement backgrounds, three hail from military services, 15 are second-generation law enforcement officials, and three represent the third generation in the field.

These recruits underwent rigorous training for 31 weeks, amassing over 1,000 hours in areas including law, emergency medical training, domestic violence, and body-worn camera technology.

Furthermore, the graduating class includes 16 individuals joining the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and one recruit joining the Stony Brook University Police Department.

Both Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison attended the ceremony.
