SWAT Teams Respond to Barricaded Suspect in Hackensack

Hackensack, NJ – A 21-year-old man experiencing a mental health crisis barricaded himself inside an apartment in Hackensack this past Saturday, prompting a response from local SWAT teams and emergency services.

The incident unfolded on Newman Street, near Lee Place. According to police reports, efforts to de-escalate the situation were initially made. However, the intensity of the situation escalated, leading to the involvement of specialized units.

The standoff concluded when officers gained entry into the apartment at approximately 2 p.m. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was subsequently taken to a local hospital. He received medical attention for exposure to pepper spray and underwent a mental health evaluation.
