Brian Swanson Charged with 2000 Murder of Charles Ballard

**Columbus, OH -** Brian Swanson, 48, has been indicted for the murder of Charles “Chico” Ballard, which occurred 25 years ago. On February 9, 2000, Ballard’s body was discovered in his home on the 300 block of E. 17th Ave.

Officers responding to the scene found that Ballard, then aged 22, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and his body had been set on fire. It took until last Friday for Swanson to be arrested in connection with the crime.

Swanson’s arrest marks a significant development in the prolonged investigation into Ballard’s death.

Federal Indictment for Murder in Aid of Racketeering Announced

**Annapolis, MD** – A federal grand jury has indicted Manuel Erazo Alvarado, known as Castigo, 46, and Erick Guillen Pleitez, also known as Kilo, for murder in aid of racketeering. The indictment was returned on February 13, and both defendants have made their initial appearances in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore, with Erazo Alvarado appearing on Thursday and Guillen Pleitez on March 6.

Court documents describe MS-13, also known as La Mara Salvatrucha, as an international criminal organization with roots in El Salvador, operating in Maryland and across the United States. In 2017, the defendants were allegedly involved in activities such as narcotics distribution, extortion, and acts of violence as members or associates of MS-13 in Maryland. On or about August 29, 2017, they reportedly participated in a murder to reinforce their positions within the gang. If convicted, they face either a mandatory life sentence or the death penalty.

Queens Man Indicted for 2021 Fatal Robbery

**Queens, NY** – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the indictment and arraignment of Jordan Hannah, an FDNY EMT, on first-degree murder charges for a 2021 armed robbery that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Kyle Griffin in Astoria. Griffin was in his Range Rover near 41st Street and 30th Avenue when Hannah and an accomplice reportedly entered the vehicle and demanded personal items before shooting Griffin as he attempted to flee.

Hannah, 26, has been charged with a total of 22 counts, including multiple counts of murder, robbery, attempted robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon. Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise remanded Hannah and scheduled his next court appearance for April 30. If convicted, Hannah could face life imprisonment without parole.

On April 18, 2021, at approximately 10 p.m., Griffin was parked in front of 40-13 30th Avenue. After being approached by a Jeep Grand Cherokee and subsequently by Hannah and an accomplice, Griffin was shot twice as he tried to drive away and later died at the hospital.
