Jersey Sports Zone – JSZ reports Phillipsburg Wrestling returns to “The Pit” and Defeats Del Val 64-6.

The students of Phillipsburg recieved a new high school last year, and while it is a beautiful building they are extremely greatful for, the legendary P-Burg wrestling program had to say goodbye to their historic gymnasium. However, tonight the Stateliners returned home to “The Pit” for a one-time-only event they hope to make an annual tradition. The Stateliners took on the Del Val Terriers this evening, winning 64-6 with 7 pins and 2 major decisions. Senior heavy weight, Patrick Sharpe, capped off the victory with an exciting finisher. Aaron Sanchez poured in 27 points on 6 three pointers and senior point guard Ja’Quaye James added 17 for the Highwaymen, as Teaneck High School recorded a big road win over Bergenfield. Teaneck, coming off of back to back state title seasons, has almost an entirely new roster, but the Highwaymen have gotten off to a 3-1 start in 2017.
