Teen and driver arrested after gun and drugs found during Glen Burnie traffic stop

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A 19-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were arrested Friday evening after police recovered a loaded handgun, drugs, and a fraudulent license plate following a high-speed traffic stop in Glen Burnie.

At around 7:55 p.m. on July 18, an officer observed a gray BMW driving erratically and speeding near Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Cedar Cliff Drive. The vehicle was later found on Clara Circle, where the officer initiated a stop.

As the vehicle came to a halt, the rear passenger fled on foot carrying a backpack into a nearby wooded area. Responding officers quickly located and detained him. With the assistance of a police K-9 unit, the backpack was recovered and found to contain approximately 320 grams of suspected cannabis, a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, an extended magazine, and a fraudulent license plate.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Bruce Edward Dent III of Severna Park, and the 14-year-old passenger were arrested and charged.
