VINELAND, N.J. — A 17-year-old juvenile has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of Christina Asselta, 38, after police discovered her with multiple stab wounds early Thursday morning at a home on Union Road. Despite emergency efforts, Asselta died at the scene.
Investigators from the Vineland Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office launched a joint investigation that quickly led to the teen’s identification and arrest. Authorities confirmed the suspect knew the victim and was taken into custody without incident.
The juvenile faces several charges, including murder (purposeful), murder (knowing), unlawful possession of a weapon (knife), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to New Jersey statutes cited by prosecutors.
Officials described the killing as an isolated incident and said there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the attack.
