Teen charged in Virginia Beach shooting after ShotSpotter alert

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A ShotSpotter alert led police to the scene of a shooting in the 5000 block of W. Hastings Arch on November 10, where a 15-year-old male was found seriously injured, the Virginia Beach Police Department reported.

Officers responded to the alert at 6:49 p.m. and discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where his condition was described as serious.

Following an investigation, authorities identified another 15-year-old male, also from Virginia Beach, as the suspect. On November 14, the suspect was taken into custody and charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and urged anyone with information to contact the VBPD Detective Bureau or Crime Solvers, allowing for anonymous tips.
