Teen critically injured in Port Richmond shooting as police search for suspect

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 16-year-old boy was shot in the face Monday evening in Port Richmond, marking the city’s second shooting investigation within minutes, police said.

Officers from the 24th District responded around 6:35 p.m. to reports of gunfire on the 3100 block of Gaul Street.

When officers arrived, they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound to the facial area.

Police rushed the victim to St. Christopher’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

No arrests have been made, and investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.

Investigators canvassing the area

The scene was secured Monday evening as detectives from the Shooting Investigation Group began collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses.

Officers have not released a description of the suspect or any information about possible leads.

Second shooting under investigation

The Gaul Street shooting occurred just minutes after a separate double shooting on Fairmount Avenue left two people injured in West Philadelphia.

Authorities have not indicated whether the incidents are connected.
