CHESAPEAKE, Va. – A juvenile male was taken into custody Sunday morning after leading police on a brief pursuit in a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash near Greenbrier Middle School, authorities said.
According to the Chesapeake Police Department, officers responded around 9:06 a.m. to a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Kempsville Road and Greenbrier Parkway. Moments later, they spotted the vehicle in a shopping center parking lot in the 1300 block of Greenbrier Parkway and attempted a traffic stop.
Police said the driver refused to stop and sped away southbound on Greenbrier Parkway, then crossed into the northbound lanes while continuing south, prompting officers to end the pursuit for safety reasons. Shortly afterward, the suspect vehicle struck another motorist in the 1000 block of Greenbrier Parkway.
The teenage suspect fled on foot but was apprehended after a short chase. The adult male driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. A female juvenile passenger in the stolen car was also hospitalized with minor injuries, while the suspect was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the juvenile will face multiple felony charges following his release from the hospital.
