Washington, D.C. — A 19-year-old man was killed and two others, including a juvenile, were injured in a triple shooting late Tuesday night in the Petworth neighborhood, police confirmed Wednesday.

The gunfire erupted around 9:01 p.m. on April 29 in the 800 block of Taylor Street NW and the 3700 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Fourth District officers responding to the sounds of gunshots found two victims — a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy — suffering from gunshot wounds near Georgia Avenue.

The adult male, identified as Zephaniah Wright of Northeast, was pronounced dead at the hospital after lifesaving efforts failed. The juvenile remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

A third adult victim later arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, which investigators determined were sustained on Taylor Street NW. Officers recovered a suspect vehicle unoccupied, though no arrests have been made.

Police are still working to determine the motive and sequence of events that led to the gunfire across two locations in Petworth.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is urged to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411. The case remains open and active.
