Fatal collision in Jackson Township leaves teen driver dead
JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – A 16-year-old boy was killed Wednesday evening when his car was struck head-on by a pickup truck that crossed into the opposite lane along East Veterans Highway, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 5:55 p.m. near West Lake Court, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer. Investigators determined that a 2019 Ford F-150 traveling eastbound crossed the center line and collided with a 2009 Nissan Altima driven by the teen.

Investigation and injuries
The driver of the Nissan was taken to Monmouth Medical Center–Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he died from his injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the Ford and her passenger were also transported to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit–Vehicular Homicide Squad and Jackson Township Police are leading the investigation, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
The fatal collision left a quiet Jackson Township stretch scarred by tragedy as investigators work to determine what caused the driver to cross the line.
