Teen sought in fatal shooting of 19-year-old woman in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police have issued a murder warrant for a 17-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old woman near Highview Landing earlier this week.

Officers were dispatched to Nationwide Children’s Hospital at approximately 8:50 p.m. on November 18 after reports of a shooting victim arriving at the facility. The victim, identified as Taarah Griffin-Carmichael, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m.

Detectives determined that the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Highview Landing, leading to the identification of 17-year-old Dionte M. Carey as a suspect. A warrant for his arrest on a murder charge has been issued.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Carey’s whereabouts or the incident to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).

The investigation remains ongoing as police seek the suspect in connection with the deadly shooting.
