Ten Charged in Attempted Car Theft and Shooting in Northwest D.C

Washington, D.C.—A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred early Friday morning, according to the D.C. Metro Police Department.

On Friday, June 21, at approximately 1:12 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of 13th Street, Northwest. The victim was outside his vehicle when a suspect attempted to steal it. A struggle ensued, during which a second suspect shot the victim. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, June 22, as a result of the detectives’ investigation, 19-year-old Elijah Hernandez, of Northwest, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
