Thief on scooter attacks woman, tries to snatch purse and jewelry in the Bronx

Bronx, NY – A woman fought back against a would-be robber who attacked her in broad daylight Friday on a Bronx street, police said.

The 24-year-old victim was walking near 1210 Elder Avenue around 11:40 a.m. when a man on a two-wheel scooter rode up and grabbed her chain and purse.

During the struggle, the woman managed to wrestle her belongings back before the suspect fled north on Elder Avenue.

Victim treated for minor injuries

EMS responded to the scene and treated the woman for minor injuries sustained during the altercation. Authorities said the victim did not require hospitalization.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and white and black sneakers.
