Barnegat Light, NJ – Emergency responders on Long Beach Island were called to three separate incidents requiring medical helicopter evacuations on Sunday, according to the Barnegat Light First Aid Squad.
The first medevac occurred during the late afternoon following an e-bike versus car crash. Officials did not release the condition of the injured person or provide additional details about how the collision occurred.
Later that evening, two additional helicopter transports were requested after a medical emergency led to a motor vehicle crash, the first aid squad said.
Multiple agencies respond across Long Beach Island
The Barnegat Light First Aid Squad thanked several agencies that assisted with the responses, including Hackensack Meridian Health paramedics, the Long Beach Township Police Department, the Harvey Cedars Police Department, Surf City Fire and EMS, Ship Bottom Fire Company, Harvey Cedars Fire Company, and local towing services.
The squad also recognized the flight crews from RWJBarnabas Health and the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit for providing critical care during the transports.
First aid squad urges motorists to remain alert
Following the busy day of emergency calls, the first aid squad encouraged residents and visitors to use caution on the roads and avoid rushing to judgment about those involved in serious crashes.
“Please remain alert, be careful, and stay safe,” the organization said in a statement. “Accidents happen. Please refrain from judgment and say a prayer or wishful thought for those involved.”
The squad also praised the flight medics and pilots who respond to critical emergencies.
“We cannot say enough wonderful things about the men and women who perform extraordinary life-saving measures in the sky,” the organization said.
Officials have not released additional information about the patients or the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
