Tip Jar Theft at Maplewood Ice Cream Shop Leads to Charges

Maplewood, NJ — MPD officers responded to a theft at Honey & Hive Artisanal Ice Cream located at 1611 Springfield Avenue. The incident involved the theft of a tip jar containing approximately $30.

The suspect, described as an African American male wearing a black tee shirt, light-colored shorts, and a white sling bag, was seen removing the tip jar from the front counter before leaving the establishment. The individual headed eastbound on Springfield Avenue.

After an investigation, Romario Francois of Irvington was identified as the suspect and has been charged with theft.
