Trenton Street Brawls End with One Teen Dead Another Injured

TRENTON, NJ – A 17-year-old boy was killed and another teen injured during a violent disturbance involving a large crowd Friday night on East Hanover Street, authorities said.

Police responded around 10 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported fights, stabbings, and possible gunfire in the area.

When officers arrived, they found one victim critically wounded in the street.

Chaos erupts in downtown Trenton

According to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, more than 100 people were present during the incident, with traffic gridlocked along the 100 block of East Hanover Street. Video footage captured the chaotic scene as multiple altercations unfolded.

Victim identified as Trenton teen

The fatal victim was identified as 17-year-old Gussiah McEachern of Trenton. He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

Second teen wounded

Detectives later identified a second victim, a 15-year-old male from Trenton, who suffered cuts and stab wounds to his arms and legs. He was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation ongoing

Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson said the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and Trenton Police Department are leading the investigation. No arrests have been made.
