Trio nabbed after wild Baltimore armed carjacking chase

BALTIMORE, MD – A high-tech police pursuit ended Thursday afternoon after three young men suspected in an armed carjacking tried to flee from officers in East Baltimore, only to be captured moments later following a brief foot chase.

At around 1:45 p.m., Baltimore Police officers tracked down a vehicle linked to a February 17 carjacking in the 3600 block of Woodland Avenue. Using license plate readers, authorities pinpointed the suspect vehicle traveling along Belair Road and moved in to make the stop.

The car pulled over in the 5700 block of Benton Heights Avenue, where three individuals jumped out and attempted to run. Officers quickly chased down and apprehended all three suspects without further incident.

Police identified the suspects as two 19-year-old men and one 18-year-old man. Each was taken to Central Booking for processing and will face charges in connection with the armed carjacking investigation.

Officials credited the city’s surveillance technology network and coordinated police response for helping bring the suspects into custody within minutes. The Baltimore Police Department continues to use license plate readers and real-time monitoring to locate vehicles tied to violent crimes more efficiently.
