BROOKLYN, NY – Two men, Kal Kirby of East Flatbush, Brooklyn and Jordan Shephard Burnham of Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, have been arraigned on a 57-count indictment for sex trafficking of a 13-year-old girl.
Beginning in February 2022, Kirby started interacting with the victim on a social networking app. Kirby had sent a taxi to pick up the victim from her school and take her to his apartment on multiple occasions, where they engaged in sexual activities. In one disturbing event, it is alleged that the victim was forced into sexual intercourse with four to five men at Kirby’s apartment.
On October 14, 2022, Kirby shared a compromising photo of the victim with Burnham. This interaction eventually led to arranging meetings between Burnham and the victim.
Between November 1, 2022, and December 23, 2022, Burnham had sexual intercourse with the victim on three occasions, offering her gifts and cash in return. The victim reported the incidents to her foster mother in late December 2022, who then informed the police.
Both defendants have been charged with various counts, including sex trafficking, promoting prostitution, rape, and endangering the welfare of a child.
