Two juveniles charged in Glenmont shooting incident

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A 15-year-old and a 13-year-old male have been charged with multiple counts of first-degree assault following a shooting that took place in the Wheaton-Glenmont area on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, according to Montgomery County authorities.

The incident occurred around 3:36 p.m. in the 2300 block of Glenmont Circle. Investigators determined that the two juveniles were involved in a confrontation with several other juveniles. During the altercation, one of the suspects brandished a handgun, causing the victims to flee. The suspects then pursued them.

A short time later, the 15-year-old suspect opened fire on a vehicle in the area. Fortunately, neither of the vehicle’s occupants was injured. Detectives recovered shell casings from the scene, leading to the identification and arrest of both suspects.

The juveniles are currently in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services.
