Two Linden men arrested in September shooting that injured Elizabeth woman

LINDEN, N.J. – Two young men are facing multiple charges after police say they conspired to fire several shots at a parked vehicle on South Wood Avenue last month, wounding a 35-year-old woman from Elizabeth.

The suspects, identified as Jevan Carrie, 19, and Jeyrin Munoz, 18, both of Linden, were arrested separately on October 4 following a two-week investigation by the Linden Police Detective Bureau.

Authorities said the woman, who was struck by gunfire, was treated at the scene and later transported to Newark University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives trace gunfire to suspects

According to investigators, Carrie and Munoz are accused of conspiring to shoot at a parked vehicle on the 700 block of South Wood Avenue. Detectives recovered evidence linking both men to the scene and the weapon used.

Munoz faces charges including second-degree aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm. Carrie is charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

Chief praises department’s investigative efforts

Police Chief David Hart commended the department’s work, noting that every gun-related crime in Linden this year has led to an arrest. “We deserve a community free from violent crime, particularly gun violence, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to making that the norm,” Hart said.

Suspects held without bail

Following their arrests, both Munoz and Carrie were transported to the Essex County Jail, where they remain pending court proceedings. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
