BRONX, NY – Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder following an ongoing investigation into a July shooting incident in the 40th Precinct, police said.
Authorities identified the suspects as 19-year-old Ahmed Sheikh of Manhattan and 20-year-old Omar Muthana of Yonkers.
Sheikh was taken into custody on October 3 at 9:50 a.m., while Muthana was arrested on September 4 at noon.
Both men face charges of attempted murder in connection with the case.
Shooting tied to July 24 incident on Park Avenue
Investigators said the arrests stem from a reckless endangerment incident reported around 7:10 p.m. on July 24 in front of 2980 Park Avenue. According to police, one of two unidentified male suspects fired a gun toward a moving vehicle before fleeing the scene.
No injuries were reported, but the gunfire endangered several people in the immediate area, prompting a months-long investigation by the NYPD.
Police still seeking additional suspects
The New York City Police Department continues to ask for the public’s help identifying and locating two additional individuals wanted in connection with the shooting. Photos of the suspects were released as part of the ongoing investigation.
