SILVER SPRING, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Upper Marlboro, in relation to a carjacking that occurred on September 22, 2023, in Silver Spring.

Around 10:28 p.m., officers responded to a parking lot in the 2000 block of Coleridge Drive following reports of a just-occurred carjacking. The suspects approached a 77-year-old man, demanded his wallet and car keys, and assaulted him before fleeing the scene in his gray 2018 Toyota Corolla.

The following morning, Bowie City Police responded to the 15600 block of East Haven Court after receiving reports of three individuals attempting to break into a car. One of the suspects, identified as the 17-year-old involved in the carjacking, was apprehended. The other two fled the scene in the stolen Toyota Corolla but were later arrested after crashing the vehicle. The 15-year-old, who was driving the stolen car, was also identified as being involved in the initial carjacking.

The 15-year-old is currently held at a Juvenile Detention Facility for unrelated charges, and the 17-year-old is at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond.
