Two Years Later, Brutal Beating of Elderly Lakewood Couple Who Opposed Eagle Ridge Development Remains an Unsolved Case

LAKEWOOD, NJ – It has been almost two years since Fredrick “Rob” Robison, 66, and his wife Patricia Robison, 64, were brutally beaten in their Eagle Ridge Circle home and law enforcement is no closer to solving the crime than they were in 2018.    On August 29, 2018, the elderly couple who vocally opposed the residential development of the Eagle Ridge Golf Course was brutally beaten and left for dead in a home invasion.

Neither the Lakewood Police Department nor the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office have been able to find the suspects that nearly killed this couple.   Former Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesperson Al Dellafave said the day after the assault, “The investigation is very active. Leads have not run dry. There is nothing we will share publicly at this time for fear it will compromise the case. This is the reason for no additional info being provided, which is not unusual in a case investigation.”

Here’s what has changed since the beating.

Joseph Coronato is no longer the Ocean County Prosecutor.  He was replaced by Governor Phil Murphy’s political appointee, Bradley Billhimer, esq., who now serves as Ocean County Prosecutor.

In November of 2019, the Lakewood Planning Board unanimously approved the development of 278 duplexes on the golf course.

One of those planning board members, Chaim Sabel, was recently implicated in a land auction held by Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill.  Hill tried to sell Sabel a piece of public land in Toms River valued at $750,00 for just $250,000.   A state Attorney General’s Office investigation is currently being conducted in that matter.

The Robisons still live with the scars and memories of that fateful night, knowing their attackers are at still at large.

The Lakewood Police Department has not issued any updates on the matter in a very long time.

The assailants, who may have just been robbing the place…or maybe as some think, were paid to beat the couple for their vocal opposition of the project are still walking the streets.

Justice has not been served.
