Utica Man Arrested for Domestic Violence and Violating Order of Protection

UTICA, NY — On June 14th, 2024, Utica Police responded to a reported domestic incident on the 800 block of South St. around 12:30 PM. Upon their arrival, officers were met by a female victim who reported a violent altercation involving the father of her child.

According to the victim’s statement, an argument escalated when the male, identified as 44-year-old Jonathan Hines of Utica, allegedly choked her and destroyed a computer monitor. It was further revealed during the investigation that there was an active order of protection against Hines, which specifically prohibited such conduct.

Given the violation of the order of protection and the nature of the allegations, Hines was taken into custody at the scene. He was subsequently transported to the Utica Police Department where he was charged with crimes related to the incident.
