Utica police respond to shooting on Mathews Ave; victim expected to survive

UTICA, NY — The Utica Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on the 1100 block of Mathews Avenue, where a male victim was transported to Wynn Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident happened late Thursday, and first responders from Utica Police and the Utica Fire Department provided immediate aid at the scene. The victim’s condition was initially unknown.

An update posted at 11:11 p.m. confirmed that, thanks to the quick actions of officers, UFD personnel, and hospital staff, the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
