Utility Worker Electrocuted in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the death of 39-year-old Osmar Daniel Chavarria. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Ashton Road on July 9, 2024.

At approximately 11:59 a.m., 4th District officers responded to a report of an electrocution. Chavarria, a utility worker from Frederick, was working in a bucket lift truck when he was electrocuted. The exact cause of the electrocution is currently unknown.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company responded to the scene to turn off the electricity. Chavarria was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
