$2 million Powerball ticket sold at Richmond Wawa claimed anonymously
RICHMOND, VA – A lucky Maryland player has claimed a $2 million Powerball prize from the October 25 drawing, thanks to a ticket purchased at a Wawa in Richmond that matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball.
The anonymous winner bought the ticket at the Wawa located at 7316 Forest Hill Avenue. While the standard prize for matching five numbers is $1 million, the player added the Power Play option for an extra dollar, doubling the win to $2 million.
The winning numbers drawn that night were 2, 12, 22, 39, and 67, with the Powerball number 15.
Virginia law allows winners of prizes of $1 million or more to remain anonymous, and this winner chose to do so. The retailer that sold the ticket, Wawa, will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. The odds of hitting all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 25.
Virginia Lottery profits support K–12 public education. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Lottery raised more than $901 million for education, including more than $22.5 million allocated to Richmond City Public Schools.
