FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County authorities have charged a Wall Township resident with murder after a brutal attack resulted in the death of his girlfriend.

Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that 24-year-old Alex J. Williams faces a first-degree murder charge following the victim’s death on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

The attack occurred a week earlier on May 23, around 9:22 a.m., in the parking lot of Glen Oaks Apartment Complex in Wall Township.

Responding officers discovered the female victim with multiple severe injuries. The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office – Major Crimes Bureau, along with Wall Township Police, determined that Williams had assaulted her with a machete.

Initially charged with first-degree attempted murder, Williams now faces additional charges including endangering the welfare of a child due to the presence of the victim’s child during the incident, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Williams was taken into custody without incident and is currently held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. His detention hearing is set for Friday, June 7, at 9 a.m. in Monmouth County Superior Court, presided over by Judge Richard W. English. Williams is represented by attorney Anthony C. Aldorasi.
