Detectives seize revolver and marijuana during wanted man’s arrest
SALISBURY, Md. — A multi-agency investigation ended with the arrest of a wanted man in Salisbury after detectives allegedly found a handgun and nearly 200 grams of marijuana during his arrest, authorities said.
According to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, investigators from the Joint Community Action Team (JCAT), the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Salisbury Police Department worked together over several days to locate 41-year-old Kevin Matthew Werkheiser.
Authorities said Werkheiser was wanted on two active Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office warrants and was believed to be armed.
As part of the investigation, detectives established surveillance near the Hardee’s at 1301 S. Salisbury Blvd.
Investigators made contact with Werkheiser and took him into custody without incident on the outstanding warrants.
During a search incident to the arrest, detectives said they recovered a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver and approximately 190 grams of marijuana from Werkheiser’s property.
In addition to the outstanding warrants, Werkheiser was charged with firearm-related offenses and transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office credited members of JCAT, its Criminal Investigation Division and the Salisbury Police Department for their coordinated efforts in the investigation.
All charges are allegations, and Werkheiser is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
