WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Families and local officials cast their lines together this weekend as the Wall Township Police Department, along with Wall Recreation and the Department of Public Works, hosted the town’s annual fishing derby at the newly restored Silo Pond off Allaire Road.
The event marked the first derby held since the pond’s recent cleanup and access improvements, a joint effort by municipal crews to revitalize the popular community spot. Children and adults lined the banks throughout the day, sharing bait, laughter, and a few prize-worthy catches under clear skies.

Police and recreation officials thanked residents for turning out in strong numbers and credited the Department of Public Works for transforming Silo Pond into a cleaner, safer, and more accessible place for families to enjoy.
The day ended not with competition, but with camaraderie — a reminder that in Wall Township, community pride runs deep as the water in Silo Pond.
