One dead one critical after stabbing on West Philly block

PHILADELPHIA — A man is dead and another critically injured after a stabbing Tuesday afternoon in West Philadelphia, police said.

Officers from the 12th District responded to a call for a stabbing around 3:18 p.m. on the 7100 block of Brant Place. When they arrived, they found a 69-year-old man with stab wounds.

He was rushed by police to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m., according to officials.

A second male victim, whose age was not released, was also injured in the incident and taken to the same hospital. He remains in critical condition. Details about the extent of his injuries have not been disclosed.

The motive behind the stabbing is currently unknown. No arrests were reported as of Tuesday evening.

The Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” police said in a statement.
