The Wildwoods, NJ – June 29, 2020 – Just in time for 4th of July weekend, amusement piers and waterparks will resume operation in the Wildwoods at 50% restricted capacity, beginning Thursday, July 2.
Indoor arcades along the boardwalk and elsewhere will resume operation on Thursday, June 2, at 25% capacity.
“We are excited to see our amusement piers, waterparks, games and arcades open safely to guests as another enhancement to the Wildwoods visitors’ return to our destination,” said Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA) Executive Director/CFO John Siciliano. “It’s yet another way they will be able to have fun in the Wildwoods this summer.”
Amusement piers are required to develop a COVID-19 Operation Prevention Plan that complies with New Jersey Department of Health guidelines. Operators should expect that rides will be confined to a six-foot distance between groups, and distance markers will be placed six feet apart in lines. Rides must also be frequently sanitized. Park visitors and staff must wear face coverings and keep to all social distancing guidelines. To ensure the health and safety of all, strict enhanced sanitization protocols will be enforced.
The Wildwoods Boardwalk features Morey’s Piers’ three action-packed amusement piers. Morey’s Mariner’s Pier, located at Schellenger Avenue in Wildwood, offers the atmosphere of a traditional amusement park, with the classics like the Super Scooters, Teacups, Musik Express and the Giant Wheel. GWTIDA is working collectively with the island’s municipalities, the Greater Wildwood Hotel and Motel Association (GWHMA), the Wildwood Business Improvement District (WBID), the Wildwood Special Improvement District (WSID), and the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce to encourage them to implement initiatives among the destination’s businesses and attractions to enhance the safety of employees and guests as the Wildwoods gradually re-open.
