WILKES-BARRE, PA – A 21-year-old woman was taken into custody early Wednesday after police responded to a violent assault at an apartment on Parkview Circle.
Officers were dispatched around 2:29 a.m. after Luzerne County 911 received an open-line call in which a woman could be heard being assaulted.
When officers arrived at 332 Parkview Circle, they found a 20-year-old female victim who said she had been attacked during an argument.
Police said the dispute began when the victim asked the suspect, identified as Valasia Davis of Wilkes-Barre, to leave the apartment.
According to the report, Davis allegedly placed her hands around the victim’s neck, choking her to the point where she could not breathe, and then bit her on the face.
Victim treated at the scene
Emergency medical personnel treated the victim for injuries sustained during the assault. Police did not disclose the extent of those injuries.
Davis was taken into custody at the scene and is facing charges related to strangulation and assault.
The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department has not released further details about court proceedings or bond status.
