OCEAN CITY, MD — A family of four siblings hit the jackpot with a winning Maryland Multi-Match ticket purchased in Ocean City for the June 30 drawing, claiming a $490,000 cash payout after splitting the $1.8 million prize.

The winning ticket, bought at the Food Lion at 9936 Stephen Decatur Highway in Worcester County, matched all six numbers in the drawing. A second jackpot-winning ticket for the same drawing was sold in Silver Spring, resulting in the prize being evenly divided.

The group told Maryland Lottery officials they began playing Multi-Match together eight years ago to celebrate the birth of a new family member. Since then, they’ve maintained a lottery pool — a decision that paid off last month.

The sibling in charge of ticket purchases bought the winning entry while on vacation in Ocean City. She discovered the win after scanning the ticket at the store and confirming the result through the Lottery app.

The four winners, retired nurses and government employees, opted for the lump sum payout and now plan to use the money for travel, a new vehicle, and investments.

The Ocean City Food Lion will receive a $900 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The second winning ticket was purchased at the Giant on Connecticut Avenue in Silver Spring and remains unclaimed.
