A quiet street in Northeast DC became the scene of a deadly shooting as a woman was gunned down inside her home.
WASHINGTON, DC – A 36-year-old woman was shot and killed inside a residence in Northeast Washington late Wednesday morning, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers from the Fifth District responded around 11:01 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 3300 block of 15th Street NE, where they found the victim, Mignon Brown-Massey, unconscious but still breathing with multiple gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS transported her to a nearby hospital, but despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police confirmed Thursday that the shooting occurred inside the location and that Brown-Massey was a resident of Northeast DC.
Investigators have not released information about a suspect or motive, and the case remains open as homicide detectives continue to pursue leads.
The department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, offering a reward of up to $25,000 for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.
This marks another fatal shooting in a summer that has seen a series of violent incidents across the city’s residential neighborhoods.
