Woman killed after being struck by vehicle in fatal crash in Baltimore
BALTIMORE, MD — A woman was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle on a busy stretch of West Patapsco Avenue, prompting a fatal crash investigation by Baltimore’s C.R.A.S.H. Team.
Around 5:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 800 block of West Patapsco Avenue in the city’s Southern District following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived to find a woman with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The driver involved remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police confirmed. It’s unclear whether the woman was in a crosswalk or what led up to the crash. Weather and lighting conditions at the time of the incident have not been released.
The 800 block of West Patapsco Avenue is a well-traveled corridor lined with businesses and residential properties, with heavy foot traffic during commuting hours.
Baltimore’s Collision Reconstruction Unit, known as the C.R.A.S.H. Team, is handling the investigation. No charges have been filed as of Thursday, and the identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
