Woman injured as balcony argument turns violent in hotel

Man arrested after domestic assault and strangulation incident at Wilkes‑Barre hotel

WILKES‑BARRE, PA — A late‑night disturbance inside a Kidder Street hotel room led officers to a violent domestic incident where a 25‑year‑old man was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting a woman and placing his hands around her neck.

Police were dispatched twice Tuesday night to 880 Kidder Street after 911 callers reported a male and female screaming inside a hotel room. When officers arrived around 10:58 p.m., they said they could hear the disturbance from the hallway before the man inside opened the door and yelled “shoot me!” at officers. Following a brief struggle, he was subdued and detained.

The victim, a 21‑year‑old woman, told officers the man had been drinking and became enraged after an argument on the balcony. She reported that he returned to the room and put his hands around her neck, applying pressure. Officers noted visible injuries to her neck and facial area consistent with her account.
