QUEENS, NY – A 54-year-old woman was left fighting for her life after being viciously attacked by two strangers on a quiet Queens street early Sunday morning.
The assault happened around 4:14 a.m. near 37th Avenue and 37th Street in the neighborhood of Long Island City.
Police said the victim was walking in the area when a man and woman approached and began punching her multiple times with closed fists, causing her to fall and strike her head on the pavement.
The suspects fled the scene on foot and have not been located.
Victim hospitalized in critical condition
Emergency responders transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she remains in critical condition. Detectives from the 115th Precinct are handling the investigation and are working to identify the two suspects.

The female assailant is described as having a dark complexion, approximately 18 to 30 years old, medium build, with black hair. She was last seen wearing a brown sweater, striped shorts, and black-and-white sneakers.
The male suspect is also described as having a dark complexion, 18 to 30 years old, medium build, with black hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt with white floral stripes.
Police seek public’s help identifying suspects
Authorities are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and canvassing the area for witnesses. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
