22-year-old woman gunned down in Southeast DC as gunfire erupts on 14th Place
Washington, DC – A young woman was shot and killed Saturday night in Southeast Washington after gunfire broke out along a residential block, leaving residents rattled and police searching for answers.
Just after 8:30 p.m. on November 8, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to reports of gunshots in the 3300 block of 14th Place SE. When officers arrived, they found an adult female lying unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds. She was not breathing.
DC Fire and EMS arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.
The woman has been identified as 22-year-old Jayla Vaden of Southeast DC. Officials have not released any details about possible suspects or a motive in the case.
Police canvassed the area for witnesses and surveillance footage late into the night, but no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.
